Alternate Tunings

You can start the tuning dialog from the Guitar menu.

The dialog is divided into two parts: a table of saved tunings and information about the currently selected tuning. The information contains tuning description, pitches, and deviation of each string from the standard tuning. You can create your own tunings by specifying the deviation of each string. If you save a tuning with a description that already exists in the table, the tuning is updated. You can also delete any tuning (except the current one). The dialog buttons change to reflect the allowed operations. For example, "Delete Tuning" becomes disabled when you select the current tuning.

You can quickly search for a particular tuning using the search box at the top. The search is incremental and can be based on the description or the pitches. When the search box becomes empty, ChordMate selects the current tuning.

If you want to add a new tuning, the easiest way to do it is to select the closest tuning, change its description, and then change string deviation. If the tuning is based on a built-in tuning, changing the description first is the only way to do it because otherwise the string deviation steppers are disabled.
