ChordMate Tutorial

Export Diagrams

ChordMate lets you export diagrams into other programs. You can create chord progressions, construct chord charts, mail interesting chord voicings to your friends, or even annotate your favorite songs. All you need to do is drag-and-drop the chord diagram into the target application. ChordMate automatically puts a PDF, TIFF, and text version of the diagram into the Clipboard, and the target application will choose its preferred format.

  • Mail. The Mac Mail program supports PDF, so you can send your friends beautiful diagrams. PDF is the best format for printing.
  • TextEdit. When TextEdit is in text mode, it can only support text diagrams. If you go to Format -> Make Rich Text, then TextEdit will grab the TIFF image of the diagram. You will need to save the file with a .rtf extension. Most Windows and Mac programs recognize the .rtf format.
  • Microsoft Word. When you drag-and-drop, Microsoft Word grabs the chord as text. To copy a TIFF image of the diagram, right-click on the diagram and select "Copy Chord As Image." Then go to Microsoft Word and paste (Command - V).

Finally, if you are using the Trial version of ChordMate, the words "ChordMate Trial" will appear below the diagram. This will go away when you register ChordMate.
